Chocolate is by far the most popular candy type in America, but confectioners hoping to make it even better are considering the use of California almonds in their products. The share of new candy products containing almonds grew 8 percent between 2014 and 2015, and globally, chocolates including almonds grew the fastest at 18.2 percent. Harbinder Maan, senior marketing manager for the Almond Board of California, commented, “This all adds up to data-driven proof that if confectioners want to make a compelling statement with their chocolates, almonds have a persuasive body of benefits to add.” The story also cites Guangwei Huang, principal scientist at the Almond Board of California, who explained why almonds complement chocolate so well.
